Did you squiffle your Dr. Pepper today?

4.8.2K1 - 15.21.

*ruffle* XD

*twitch* *shudder* it's...finished...post to the CLAMP list, they can feel the pain too. mail-bombs will be accepted, e-mail me for address.

To the tune of Walking In A Winter Wonderland:

Shounen ai -- it's so suteki,
Though some think -- it's kinda messy,
    Fuuma's my friend,
    Right through the end,
    Walkin' 'round in Fuuma's underwear.

Silky voice -- will ya listen,
Perfect skin -- watch it glisten,
    Chi no ryuu
    Kamui times two,
    Walkin' 'round in Fuuma's underwear.

In the city there's a guy named Fuuma,
He pretends that he is just like me.
    He'll say, "I'm Kamui," I'll say,"Fuuma!"
And he'll hold up his shorts and laugh with glee.

    After dark -- then it's O-K,
We can dress -- like Kanoe,
    Put on some eyeshade,
    And join the s'kebe,
    Walkin' 'round in Fuuma's underwear!

    Lacy things... missin',
    Didn't ask... permission,
    At me he stares,
    In his thong underwear,
    Walkin' 'round in Fuuma's underwear,
    Walkin' 'round in Fuuma's underwear,
    Walkin' 'round in Fuuma's underwear!
...it deeply frightens me what I can do with a bad thought and half an hour free time.

And one last news story before I forget it - new Office XP automatically (and for now, unchangeably) blocks downloading/opening attachments with files that may be virus-related.

The files, deemed by Microsoft as most likely to be used by hackers to transfer viruses, include some of the most common types, such as program execution files, batch files, Windows help files, and Java and Visual Basic scripting files. Also blocked are photo CD images, screensavers and HTML application files, according to a list supplied by Microsoft.
Programs? Help files(there goes our job)? Photo CD images?! Come on...at least make it an enable/disable feature, but noooo it's a registry key that controls it. And MS isn't going to say until XP is in wide distribution - which, with all the issues it's been having...hopefully may be NEVER.

Nine minutes to go...can I get away with 2 calls for the day?

4.8.2K1 - 14.12

Big Post alert...
Political alert...
Really Bad Thought(TM) alert...

Well, since people are STILL visiting my site, I guess at least a news digest is in order.

Too many Xs. Xerox stamps out Windows Disgust after THREE major network outages. Now let's see - in company they say that WinXP is the at-fault, however publicly they say it's a 3rd party vendor - do I see a lack of compatibility & a desire for total control? Let's go back to the product activation/licensing fun, the IE 6.0-Outlook e-mail "bug", and the quickly adjusted for the US version of the Passport Terms Of Service. Could MS be forcing noncompatibility with non-MS hardware/software to keep people buying MS software? Let's see what happens when MS releases their server software - if it has issues interfacing with Linux/Unix/whatever, then I'd say that's a big yes. As for the Passport TOS, the original lose-your-rights version DOES still apply to non-US sites: I did the regional settings bit and lo, the TOS did change back to the original.

Chinese standoff still happening, why are they waiting so long to dicker over things? What concession do they think they can get that pushing so hard for won't hurt them bad?

"We are still supporting access to WTO, but I can say that if we have to go for a vote on normal trading relations again, this situation has not improved their chances of winning that again,"
That's not a pretty thought...seventy billion dollars a year at risk, over what? 1 little MiG clone and some hotshot flyboy who fucked up? WHAT are they trying to push for? Do they think that America will forego the arms sale to Taiwan and not boost their defenses? Not happening, says Congress.
"Are we to assume that all of these individuals are now considered hostages? I don't know, and I certainly hope not," said Hyde, R-Ill, chairman of the House International Relations Committee.

"But if they are, the Beijing government is terribly mistaken if it believes these actions will influence the U.S. decision to permit the sale of defensive weapons to Taiwan."

And it's official, the Taiwanese ARE looking for 4 Arleigh-Burkes, and there's possibility that they may want some new submarines as well - China has been adamant that Taiwan not get them. Taiwan wouldn't need one from us, hell, just hire some Colombians if you want a submarine...ah well. China also apparently threatens to invade if Taiwan gets the DDs. I dare them to try, with a quartet of ABs in the area, not to mention a lot more US hardware. To me, the ChiComs are coming off as international gangbangers - thye make a lot of noise, always point the blame at someone else, and threaten violence when they don't get their way. What is it going to take to convince China that it's not a spoiled child and can't get everything it wants...a revolution?

And the Asia troubles continue. North Korea is threatening force against the US & Japan, saying that the US building a national missile defense system (designed to SAVE YOUR LIFE, dear reader) is an act of war and will be met with "firm resolve". They go on to claim that the US has been trying to derail the peace process over there, and have been broadcasting anti-US propaganda ever since Bush decided that he wasn't going to play ball with communists, let alone bend over anytime for them like our recently departed Imperious Leader. GOD I love having a president with backbone and a pair of big ones. I'm proud to be American again. My only concern over this is what the NoKos will try with Japan, since they're a) specifically named and b) far far closer to the threat than we are. Wonder if they're watching this at Chitose and Misawa.

For a lighter side, there's online puzzles to play with.

Dora-san, I liked 1984. MAFBLAD!

Katherine, the Catholic Church IS very steeped in tradition and rites...so they're not all bad. A little pedantic now and then. And a "Yay cello!" from me too, I love it. Okay okay you can shoot Spike's gun. < ^_^ >

Oh for the love of Pete. South Park Anime Style. I feel ill...

RUBYYYYYY-SAAAAAN! Good grief did you HAVE to post those two pictures!? I'm not feeling well as is...*points up one para* And about the skin, try The Babelfish for a translator - type in your message, translate it, and copy in the garbage code you see into an e-mail program, and send. I know it works in hotmail! I'll post a better translator when I get home.

Alan, aren't gundam kits FUN? *grins* did you get the 1/100 kits like I said, or the cheapy 1/144?

Firefly, something makes me think the GAP refers to what's between the ears of their shoppers/employees...

*poke* Hmm. *sings* Walkin' round in Fuuma's underwear...*scribbles away*

4.8.2K1 - 0.41

Sakura-san...you belong here with us. This is your home.

Carolyn, I don't speak Canuckian so I didn't get the peacky thing ^^ sorrie. Squish!

Not a lot of updates for a while, it's gonna be a busy weekend (I will post stuff from work tho). I'll try and get online at nights at least...if not, e-mail me if you miss me. XD I should be back Toozdae night or Wednesday morning.

Watching the TV Episodes of Rurouni Kenshin _AFTER_ watching all 4 OAVs is a BAD THING. Trust me.

*does an impression of a certain TV commercial duck* MAFBlad! MAFBlad!

4.7.2K1 - 17.48

I just had a call from someone by the amusing name of Lucky Dodge. That sounds like an RPG combat move or an anime character.

Rumika, that sucks, I hope you'll be okay...how bad is the car?

Ragabash, see you at Jim's tonight. Shounen night, Bebop, Esca, B.H., and I request first ep of Gasaraki ^_^ No Shoujo Night, I declare.

Hana Yori Dango...Alexa, it's not "against popular belief", you're trying to contradict hard evidence here.

4.7.2K1 - 15.39

Ragabash, sometimes nightmares can be useful.

b...BOTHER?! Fheh. I can just refuse to let you shoot Spike's gun if you're going to play that game, mwahahahaha. And as for Ein, hey, it WAS funny ^_^ the Jet thing was just wrong, but I LIKE Ein. So there.

It was just a very funny description, Rumika ^_^ No problem.

peacky keen? Blue is nice, but I miss the CLAMPsters from the previous layout.

NnM, it's okay ^_^ I'll make a little wall-hanging thingie of it if it's too small.

And now, the Register: Microsoft eliminates non-MS e-mail in the current PUBLIC beta of IE 6.0. If you have Outlook 2K with the IE 6.0 browser, it seems to be eating the subject and body of e-mails sent from any source EXCEPT...Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express. It's a very interesting specific bug, and combined with the apparently now infamous and quickly modified MS Passport Terms of Service...one wonders if it's NOT a conspiracy. Aww, can't recieve e-mail from someone? Guess they'll have to up(?)grade to Microsoft Outlook as well. I leave it to you.

4.7.2K1 - 13.55

And again to the Vatican, the Italians want to cut power to the Vatican radios because they're suddenly concerned about electromagnetic waves. They ought to consider buying a few channels on Sky Angel One, or lobbing their own up there.

Ruby, I'm sorry, I still can't find anything on the law, legible & useful Italian govt. stuff is hard to come by on the web. But I did sign the petition...and I'll keep looking.

4.7.2K1 - 13.47

Check it out! The pope's a vampire! Buried 37 years ago, and when they exhumed him two weeks ago his face hadn't changed!

I really shouldn't read Salem's Lot at work, and then run across that story.

4.7.2K1 - 11.32

Morning blog update...since I missed any real posts recently, here we go.

Ragabash, I'm looking at anything between 30GB and 80GB. I want ROOM dammit. Dunno yet on final setup. Of your list, I can say yes to twelve of them, and of the other dozen, seven of them do not apply, being single. < O_o > Firefly sez to check here, did you authorize it? The skins are stored locally, not directly linked to gwei.org, but...passing on an alert.

Meg, it's our mascot for the team. It's a space alien. Yes, Virginia, there really is an Area 51/Groom Lake and it's about an hour north of here, next to Rachel. Lots of people who work up at Area 51 live here in Las Vegas, and are flown in and out fairly regularly. If you're ever around McCarron airfield, go look over the fence from the Motel 6 on Trop & Koval, see if you can see the big white passenger jet with a red stripe down the side, and no tail/reg number. Since we're so close to it, they decided to rename the baseball team to "The 51s" and make some cartoony space alien our mascot. Your crawdad comparison isn't all that bad, actually. I still intend to kill it.

Sakura, e-mail/post me a decent photo of you/your hair and of the character you want to cosplay.

Oh come on, Katherine, it wasn't THAT bad a vote. I could have said Ed, you know.

Ruby...that worries me. I'll spend today looking up info on that law - hopefully it applies only to big corporate sites or news webpages, not personal stuff. I'll look for you. If not, ... you know, I AM getting a webserver up here soon. And I DARE the "bastardi facisti" to send someone over to unplug me, Ragabash can attest to one of the most heavily-defended desktop PCs in the US. *grins happily* I'll give you space for a site if you need.

Firefly, it's not so much that guys or girls are shallow...PEOPLE are nowadays. There's no depth to the mundanes... ah well. Hey, you turned out alright, and you found good friends. Does anyone really NEED much more? (and who is Saucony?) Hmm...I'd call those hand-ups, I guess, but..either that's a big 13 year old...or you are *koff*disposessed of height. ^^; Will do.

I wanna go to ACen...

NnM, strange song. I can't remember how T,M,D goes, or else I'd laugh about it ^^

CATSY! Oh god someone else not in Finland knows who Future Crew is! You remember Purple Motion, I'm sure? I think I still have all my old .mod/s3m/xm/all that crap...*grins* God Bless Tight Code...you should hear the stories "King Solomon" tells about working with Israeli computers and defected Russian programmers back home in the 1960s & 1970s. As limited as the Sov hardware was back then, the programmers had to be wizards with tight code...when they got to Israel, and got to play with the American toys (let's not ask where they came from, okay?) they were...well, they did some SERIOUS programming. Tight code on (at the time) high end mainframes did some SERIOUS wonders. I miss the old days when programmers were gods and an IT badge gave you respect ANYWHERE.

Enasni, you linked me first! So there! :P heheh

Three days to go...*tick tick*

And last but not least, another new reader, ecchibi! Kristi, Miwa was cool - and he did make a good comeback and bow-out at the dance, when he put Miki & Yuu back together again. That scored major cool points. YES I have seen the entire series. Yes I am a freak. Yes I screamed at the "great revelation" in the last 5 minutes of the final ep.

4.6.2K1 - 22.19

*worships Caroyln's mad fashion skillz*

I'm 6'5". I'm 300 pounds. I have the body frame of Godzilla.

Somehow I don't think an Adult Small will QUITE cut the mustard.

4.6.2K1 - 19.43

This'll be all for tonight, I think. Busy prepping for inbound visitors.

*ruffle* *adds this to my birthday list*

Confederate Submarine Hunley's crew found at their stations still inside the submarine. Hunley went down in history as the first submarine to sink an enemy ship, torpedoing the USS Housatonic while she stood at anchor. However, the Hunley was lost soon afterwards, believed to have either sunk from damage in the explosion, or rammed accidentally by an approaching Union ship. A salute to 9 brave men who ventured into the technological unknown and forever changed naval warfare history.

I don't care who you are.
I don't care what you are.
I don't care where you are.
If you deliberately get nasty on every call you make to us, if you claim to know more than we do but still need our help, if you treat us like shit, and if you call any of my crew "fucking idiots" or lie about us, we will find you.
We will deal with you.
And you will thank us when we are done.

4.6.2K1 - 11.09

Ragabash, the Station Casinos got in real hot water over a big "unauthorized minority hiring" and now they're talking about either moving to Salt Lake or revoking the charter outright.

Las Vegas has a baseball team. The "51s". This is our mascot. I'm going to go commit a felony, I'll be back later with a body count.

4.6.2K1 - 10.54

Liberty Bell rings! But not officially - hammer wielding fuckhead puts on his own version of a patriotic Gong Show.

Pilots detained in China are in good condition and being fed well.

And the collapse begins! Pacific Gas & Electric goes Chapter 11 while it tries to "reorganize". Right now, due to the power costs for needing to buy everything short term and dealing with other issues, the company is in the red three hundred million dollars a month. So is Chairman Gray going to step in and take over the power company in toto now?

4.6.2K1 - 10.42

Well this is weird. Ragabash, your page is dying in Scarborough according to the traces, it seems to be a seriously on-again/off again connection. Weather is okay there, no major storm in Maine. Hope it's fixed soon.

4.6.2K1 - 9.17

Sakura, never been to a con before? You're going to LOVE it. ^_^ *is a 13-year con veteran*

RUBY'S BACK!!! Yaay she's not dead (yet) though that may change. < ^^;; > But let's hope not.

Carolyn, I think it's the other way around, they get it from you.

Alan: Again, I wonder how crap like that gets past the censors.

Panda, I don't see a birthday list yet...*preps HTML*

Gen-chan, you must keep your blogger up :p or else I'll pack up NnM and mail her to you with no return address.

Pretty much it, Maria. And, about the US/Soviet relations, I strongly doubt the Israelis would have gone to the Russians for things, and that it was just a bluff - nearly EVERY other arab nation (at least Syria, Egypt, Iran, Jordan, Turkey, Lebanon, and allll the rest) were Russian "client states". And they'd have screamed bloody murder if the Israelis had turned to the Russians. AND, with all that Soviet influence, the Americans more jumped at the chance to have a solid foothold in the area. That's my theory, anyways, dunno where/how I could back THAT one up. Israel turned to America first for help, because they knew the Arabs wouldn't allow an allegiance with Russia, and the Americans jumped at it because it let us put resources in the area. So it wasn't as big a "threat" to us, more just a good opportunity.

Enasni, it's good news for the future. We'll never go to the stars...but perhaps we'll know where our grandchildren end up.

And Sharon ain't takin shit from noone. Israel rockets northern Gaza in retaliation for the mortar attack on Jewish settlements. Palestinian Cabinet minister Nabil Amr denounced the latest Israeli assault, saying that "Israel is very near to killing any peace opportunity." Excuse me, asshole, but who's been driving buses through crowds, blowing up cars, lobbing mortars, and throwing themselves on top of Israeli gunfire? So, the Pallies get to walk around in the dark with the power out, and don't expect the Israelis to fix it anytime soon.

Well damn. The EP-3 flew over one of China's biggest ELINT gathering sites on landing. That would explain some of why they're pissed off, and be another reason to remove tapes - who knows what the Americans recorded?

4.6.2K1 - 1.03

Currently listening: FUZZY na itami (PSY-S)

Carolyn, I LIKE the pacman shirt! I want one now.

Ooh, another nifty comic!

Yeah well so it's wrong! It was funny. And I still got what I wanted.

So Ragabash, should I post the X winamp skin idea for someone else to try or do you want to do it?

Now hey! I very carefully said NOTHING about the MAFBlad logo okay? That was SOMEONE ELSE ENTIRELY. XD

Ooh! My birthday list! Yes, I have simple tastes. Fortunately it's all too expensive, so I don't have to worry about anything. Hee! Best way to get out of birthdays - post expensive wish lists.

4.5.2K1 - 20.50

Long post warning...
Technology watch warning...

Sakuraaaaaa! kirei na... < ^_^ >

What. The. F*ck. And why did they have to e-mail ME.

A new material bends microwave radiation in the opposite direction, which may open up the possibility of smaller and better radios & phones.

AIM broken again! Some sort of major power outage in the VA area, where AIM has its main site. I noticed ICQ seemed to be having a similar problem this morning.

Carbonated milk...
...no. < X X >

Kotobukiya's website, and all their Card Captor Sakura kits. Use the Babelfish if you want a VERY rough but navigable translation.

Political happy fun news, Israeli gunships hit Gaza, and Mori's FINALLY leaving. And after a 40% rate hike, they still want people to conserve energy. I can't wait for summer! *evil glee*

And for the officeworker, there's a new super-ergonomic mouse. What makes it so beneficial?

"When you use a mouse you use these muscles," he said pointing to his upper arm. "These are made for chopping wood and hitting people in the face, not for precision work. That should be done with your arm resting and these (upper arm) muscles resting and then you can do precision work."
YEAH! Science with an attitude, I love it!

NnM-chan, no problem. *laughs* oh I dunno, maybe I will, maybe I'm just being mean. XD And no, you probably can't reach it. Hee, MAFBlad is catching. Thankee-sai to you both, and I get that reference. < ~_^ >

One of my coworkers just got off of a 1:40:00 call. The user was stoned the entire time, and swore like a first-year New York sailorman. At the end of the call, the guy says that he has to go because his girlfriend is coming and he "wants to get a piece of @ss", but wants to give nick a good reference. So he gets put on with a supervisor, and the coworker gets his little kudos for the night. Then, after finishing the call, the shipper does not hang up but instead audibly relieves himself, and then wanders off. GOD I love this job!

4.5.2K1 - 13.05

Ragabash's page is NOT down. There is a toasted router on there that is dying after 9,000 milliseconds in trace attempts. So all will be well...eventually. No ETA on when it comes back.

4.5.2K1 - 11.28

Hey Alan! Check this out!

4.5.2K1 - 11.24

And Ragabash, the Chii kit looks like it's a no-go...I've got 1 last try looking, maybe another, but I'll let you know. There probably will be others, though, I'll keep you informed.

4.5.2K1 - 11.21

NnM-chan, go check your e-mail. < ^_~ >

4.5.2K1 - 10.13

*tries again* oi. I get the feeling that Ragabash is going to move back to malakim.net soon...

4.5.2K1 - 10.11

11 new planets discovered, and one of them may be able to support human life. It's in an orbit with the sun's biozone, and the sun is similar enough to Sol that it could support life - but here's the oddity. It's the size of Jupiter. There's also a new planet in a system with 3 stars, making strange shadow patterns.

Well, the ChiComs and the US are negotiating for the release of the EP-3's aircrew. Negotiate for what? There's some dude with a key for the cells, there's another dude who drives a bus. It's pretty damn simple to let them go, what're they negotiating for?

BAHAHAHHAHAHAH!!!! The poor Chinese schmuck pilot who crashed into the EP-3 was, I swear to God, named "Wang Wei". Yeah, he went the wrong way allright.

4.5.2K1 - 9.11

Rein's acidSPIT, Blog of the Day! And the mighty Tay with a rather cool layout and the amusing BitchBot.

DAMN Ragabash, your server seriously took a dump...after 6-7 minutes, I got...a title tag and bgcolor to come through, that's IT.

Sakura, not yet allowed back into the Promised Land? Ah well. Lake Tahoe's pretty cool, I guess, if you like having nothing to do. ^_~

Katherine, fortunately it's not legit. REALLY DAMN GOOD though, isn't it? Vicious as Judy from Big Shot, GOD no. That's just messed up. I still say Vicious should get knocked on the head and run around thinking he's Phantom F. Harlock, that would be funny as hell.

Carolyn has a Miko!

Yes, MAFBlad.

4.4.2K1 - 22.41

Whee, I'm ranted out for the day. So a spot of humor: Schizophrenic Basketball: Play one on one, by yourself!

4.4.2K1 - 21.01

Firefly, I was close! Sprite truly isn't more than carbonated fruitwater. And I like that saying!

Kris, here's a pleasant thought for China - since it's communist, everything is For The Workers and Jobs For All. Now, being technologically backwards in this world is hard but they accomplish it thanks to their dearly beloved Communist government, and they don't have jack for industry because of that. Case in point - they put children to work making fireworks IN SCHOOL to sell to other countries. And guess what? Not long ago two schools blew up from mishandling explosives, and killed over 60 kids. (original blog post: First Reload, 3.7.01 - 1:14 PM) Think of that when you celebrate July 4 this year, with fireworks.

Woo! MAFBlad has NnM's birthday list. *evil grin*

4.4.2K1 - 20.09

An interesting suggestion that was heard on Rush Limbaugh today: What if the EP-3 crash WASN'T an accident? Consider - the EP-3 landed in china, rather than a) ditching, apparently impossible, or b) bailing out and splattering into the ocean. Instead, it lands in a relatively unfriendly communist nation. At the same time, the Taiwanese ambassador is in the US looking to gain a big arms shipment, including 4 Aegis destroyers, probably Arleigh-Burke types. With those DDs, Taiwan will have a massive theater defense system. This is in addition to all sorts of other armaments and supplies. Now that this incident has happened, and the ChiComs have bobbled the PR job on this with their demands, and have seriously weakened their standing, to the point where the arms deal is effectively guaranteed. The timing on this is most interesting, and it also marks an intelligence coup with the Americans - is it possible we loaded the a/c with false information, fake hardware, and "used pinball machine parts"? The Americans DO have a history of set-up jobs to get their way - the original Cuban-American war and the destruction of an American ship, the silver-platter job of Pearl Harbor in WWII, and the supposed NVA attack against a Navy cruiser off Vietnam all come to mind. And at this point, China is seriously in the unfavorable list and dropping fast, Taiwan will get all the arms it wants, and the US gains a heavier military presence in the area without the Taiwanese taking the step of declaring TRUE independence. It's an interesting thought, and if Bush's crew thought this up I salute them for craftiness worthy of a Harkonnen. And if it is just a horrible accident with fortuitous timing, then let's not lose the chance fickle Fate has given us, shall we?

4.4.2K1 - 18.25

*snicker* I see. I checked the link and saw the Argent Soma stuff, but...I was still afraid, not knowing anything about A.S. Hmm, would it be too late to again deny I am a space alien and reiterate the story that I am a simple human being? Well, I may rewrite it. The original song was just too good to fit. Oh well. It's still a funny thought, though, "My Baby Garand". Dammit I REALLY want one now too.

That would be the Jeff, Ragabash. Worf is gone. No more "Get out of switch!" at 8pm from across the building (I think you could hear him down there, sometimes)...and I know not, it seems he came in Monday and gathered his stuff. *shrug* shiranai.

Pam, that sucks mighty. Again, I reiterate that it's a shame the duel is no longer legal. Otherwise I could hire my services out SO much. If you're on LATE tonight, I'll see you...

And yet another strike against Force 17 in the latest CNN middle east update. Mortar fire coming from one of their compounds was returned en masse by Israeli artillery units. And Sharon refuses to negotiate unless the Pallies stop shooting.

No friggin wonder the Russians didn't want us around.

4.4.2K1 - 17.01

Jeff is gone. This sucks.

Hey Ragabash, we're having a "Dress-Up Wednesday" thing now. Come in good "sunday clothes", looking professional and nice. Rebecca, whom I think has been dropped on the head when she was little, has taken this day to attempt to come to work in full-on kimono, hawaiian dress, or chinese dress. This could be amusing. < ^^;; > Oh yeah, I found another Washuu over at Great Wall.

WOOHOO! Solar flare eats AOL Instant Messenger! Not officially, but they appear not to have any good explanation. And there was a Sun Mainframes ad for the new "Sun Fire Server too!" XD Screenshots of Windows Disgust from The Register.

An update in the Microsoft data ownership war...is it covered or no? Ya pays yer money and ya takes yer chances.

4.4.2K1 - 11.34

Gun Rights news...

Ragabash, hope it's just a bonked-something-in-your-sleep effect...are you gonna be in today?

Sakura, I probably COULD kill the whole song and do it as a parody, but...I dunno. Should I? *still in fear until you explain the WATASHI NO FURANKUUUUUUU part*

Okay, here's the ammo ban story. "Ismael Ileto also urged a total ban, telling the council that it would reduce gun violence..." NOT TRUE! This has been documented time and again that gun bans INCREASE crime. Why is your government LYING TO YOU about your own safety? And this is the quote: "Our reality is, it's not the guns that are killing people, it's the ammunition," from City Councilman Mike Hernandez. So if GUNS don't kill people...can I have mine back now? Can we get rid of the illegal guns banned when guns killed people? And when was the last time a bullet ever jumped out of a casing, ran down the street, and dived into someone's head? PEOPLE kill people. People have to make the decision to pull the trigger - the bullet isn't going to shoot itself.

And don't believe the bullshit you hear about "cheap saturday night specials" being dangerous, either. They're not. They're cheap because they're small, mass-produced, not the world's most accurate but good enough for close work, don't have supercool features, and really only last about a thousand rounds or so, for the little ones. They're STILL good guns and I know many gunners who carry them as backups. Those little budget guns, guess who they were aimed at? Nope, not Johnny Gangbanger so he can go bust caps in someone. They were originally made for WOMEN. Ever hear of the Ladysmith, for example?

4.4.2K1 - 9.50

Political Warning...

Damn, it IS update week.

Kris, it's a bandolier. You can probably find one for shotgun shells for about 20-25 bucks, in black nylon. For leather, forget it - you're gonna pay a hundred bucks.

Maria, the situation with Israel isn't quite like you describe. Yes, they wanted a home for the Jews. Yes, Israel was what they wanted - and they got it. The Arab states left Israel, because at the time it was a sh*thole - huge, unlivable swamp in the north and bone-desert in the south. The Israelis got there, and decided a little ecological work was in order, and so they spent the time & money to drain the swamp, and then use all the water to turn as much of the country as they could into a garden. And it worked.

And at the time, the Palestinians were sorta there, but they moved in with the Syrians. And were such horrible neighbors that Syria kicked them out of the country (ALL of them) permanently, on pain of death. The Israelis let them stay in country, and set aside areas for them.

Now, the Palestinians have this crazy idea that they're going to take over Jerusalem and kill all the Israelis, at least the ones they don't make captive. I would point out that you don't see Israeli civilians driving a bus through Palestinian bus stops and killing 8 people, strapping explosives to themselves/their cars and detonating them in the midst of a crowd, or such like that.

If the Palestinians wanted peace, it wouldn't be hard - quit picking up rocks and throwing them at Israelis, and quit blowing yourselves up to kill some Jews. And get rid of Yassir Arafat - he's the leader of the Palestinian Authority AND the PLO, and he promises left and right that he'll make his people stop fighting, and then 10 minutes later gives a speech and literally tells the Pallies to go kill Israelis in a Day Of Rage. And you know what looks really good and gets you public opinion? When 2-3 "unarmed" people get shot & killed by Israeli soldiers. Gee, did we mention that there were a HELL of a lot more than 2-3 people throwing rocks and molotov cocktails and trying to kill the soldiers? It's a war of public opinion - either way, Arafat wins. If the Israelis defend themselves, he can scream about the innocent-killing Israelis. If they don't defend themselves and get killed, hey that's fewer troopers for the Israelis.

Arafat is the root of the problem here, and when Sharon makes his move (not long, I'd wager, he's working down Sharon's bodyguards) the problem will be heavily lessened.

The Palestinians don't have to pick up rocks and throw them at the Israelis. They can be thankful that someone hasn't thrown them out of their country yet, like the Jordanians and the Syrians. They can decide to live like good neighbors rather than try to burn your neighbor's house down because his looks better than yours and you don't like him.

Yes, we have supported the Israelis, but not ALWAYS. It's not been an unconditional thing, and we've stiffed them on a lot of stuff. Yes, we're allies, but not the closest of friends by a long shot. And yes, the Israelis have nuclear weapons - a lot of them. They got them on their own. Why do you think noone's attacked them in force since 1976?

Aww, bummer. Oh well, glad it's at least not as bad now. ^^ Kawaisou Carolyn...

Sakura-san, there just wasn't much I could do without unraveling the song completely...sorry it didn't turn out so well, but the original was just too good.

Dedicated to the U.S. Veterans of the Second World War, to the tune of Baby Grand:

    Late at night
    When it's dark and cold
    I reach out
    For something to hold
    Her aim's true
    Faced with Nazis
    She comes through
She's the only one who can
    My baby Garand
    Is all I need

    In my time
    I've wandered everywhere
    All through this war
    She would always be there
    Any day
    Any hour
    All it takes
Is the power in my hands
    This baby Garand's
    Been good to me

    I've had friends
    Oh but they've passed away
    I have had fame
    Fleeting day to day
    Fought for fortunes
    Lost them anyway
    As for women
They don't stay with just one man
    But my baby Garand
    Will stand by me

They say that no one's gonna hear this on the radio
They said the wartime blues were dead and gone
    But only songs like these
    Played in minor keys
    Keep those memories holding on

    I've come far
From the life I've walked in
    And I've got the scars
From those wars I've fought in
    Now I'm home
    And I'm weary
    And in my bones
    Every dreary night watchstand
    But my baby Garand
    Is coming home with me

    Ever since this war began
    My baby Garand's
    Been good to me

I suddenly get an impending sense of doom...*blink* And a strange urge to go bake cookies...

now I'm off to sleep. *dozes off listening to Dust In The Wind* mm..fave song...

< u.u > *zzzz*

4.4.2K1 - 0.51

Just a few quickies, then I'm off to bed. Here's our apology - BITE ME. They ram our aircraft with a fighter, and our plane has to land over there. They cry about the emergency landing and say our aircraft rammed theirs. They confiscate our aircraft - sovereign US territory. They detain our personnel, and refuse to give them back yet.
AND THEY WANT AN APOLOGY?!

And in yet another victory for gun owners & manufacturers, Louisiana Supreme Court upholds the law banning gun maker lawsuits. Can we PLEASE get this over with? And perhaps fine the cities & counties for the legal fees caused by these lawsuits? Every single one of them FAILED - the gun companies were exonerated every time. So all the cities did was cost the gun industry millions in legal fees and injunctions, and force them to shut down for a while. Looks like they got what they wanted anyways.

From the local radio, there was a report that Los Angeles has banned "high power" ammunition, it came with an audio clip of one of the city council people (I think) making the statement, "Guns don't kill people. Bullets kill people." 1) he's half right, and 2) *LMAO*. I'll look tomorrow a.m. for a link on the story and post it when I find it. Oyasumi!

4.4.2K1 - 0.09

Sakura-san, I need a copy of the song - do you have an MP3 of it? I can't write it without a tune to put words to...I've got the lyrics though.

4.3.2K1 - 23.46

Ooh, look! Only 3800 yen! < ^_^ >

4.3.2K1 - 23.39

I haven't done an Anime Crossover From Hell in a while. I should go generate one.

4.3.2K1 - 23.36

Ragabash, cool. And...DAMN they're getting pissy. Fine, if they don't want us there we can leave. Let them have China put troops there instead of American ones and see how they like it. Ooh, scary, a NUCLEAR POWERED submarine showed up for 20 minutes, no more than an hour. If they were complaining due to interference with shipping, okay, I could see that. But...they're screaming because it gives off neutrons. Woo. And I like Vincent Lom all of a sudden, he makes some good points and has reasonable expectations, I think.

Music Video idea: Killer Queen (Queen) to Faye Valentine..."Caviar and Cigarettes", I keep seeing the Faye-Steals-Ein's-Food scene. *LMAO*

Okay, last time we checked, the Official Chinese Story was that their F-8 was rammed by the EP-3 and the EP-3 suffered damage to the tail section and one wing - so why are there holes in the nose section? There's a lot of unpleasant diplomatic language being used here too...this could grow uglier. And do the ChiComms have a right to inspect the aircraft and be the pissy little barbarians they have been? No. As an aside, here's to the pilots of the aircraft, assuming any Squid actually reads this - Good Work.

Now the Post Office wants to end Saturday Delivery of your mail. Why does it cost so much, that you're 3 BILLION dollars in debt this year alone?

Hey look! Bush Wins Presidential Election!

Pulse Rifle will be finished in a week to 10 days! Metal gets welded tomorrow! *dances*

Sakura, I will write it and post it later tonight. < ^______^ > Probably MUCH later. Y'know, somehow I didn't expect you to reply that favorably *L*

NnM-chan, umm, if you keep saying the word Feminist he might come find you because of that. Just an observation. Hahahaha! Hope you don't live in Spam Diego!

MAFBlad, you two are messed up. Keep at it please. ^_^

Everyone who reads me who I mentioned, I PROMISE I will link you. I'm just a lazy bastard, sorry.

4.3.2K1 - 21.25

Ragabash, P.S. - tell Guy that this ep of Esca we see this weekend will be one he's already seen - so he's not allowed to kill us and we can watch escaflowne. ^_^

4.3.2K1 - 21.20

Ragabash..ow. Not good. Umm, the offer to blow stuff up is still availible - pistols any weekday morning you like (friday a.m.?) might not be a bad idea. You know, I found a place that can do an armor conversion on the micro machine you have, if you're interested. Oh hell yes, El Cajon's seriously fucked up. And let's see, what have I ranted on that is validated - whatever happened to parents and families?

Things weren't great at home either. Williams' parents had divorced when he was 5, and he rarely saw his mother after that. Several friends said he would automatically call their mothers Mom. Williams lived with his father Charles Jeffrey in a dank stucco apartment house about one mile from the high school. Adrianna Aceven, a fellow freshman and one of the few friends whom Williams invited back to his apartment, said the father was distant, disappearing to work on his computer when the kids walked in. On weekends the senior Williams is said to have stretched out on the floor, sipping beer and watching the sports channels. "I never saw Andy go anywhere with his dad," says Shaun Turk, 15. "Andy would call him and say it's raining and beg him to give him a ride home. But you could hear his dad yelling into the phone, 'Get your ass home!'"
Ahh, what wonderful people. Humans are herd beasts. If you destroy the herd, we go insane. I submit that all of us bloggers are a sort of herd, or clique, or whatever you want to call us - but humans NEED each other. Not psychobabble, not counseling, not therapy...just family and friends. Simple, effective, worked for centuries.

Again, I say Go Korea.

Dora-san, nice layout there. I like the blood & entrails all over the fingers.

hee hee! Thank you Katherine.

Sakura, I so want to rewrite that song to My Baby Garand...

Carolyn, you'll have to post the link to Panda's birthday list! teehee! And yes, I've done that before, Panda.

Chi

Well excuse ME for being tall, you two. :P Gen-chan, what's this about your blog closing?

4.3.2K1 - 12.22

Anytime, prat. BTW I was looking for that list, thanks.

nyan. Yes, Ein. Woo! Post the link to the gift list! And don't mention things clawing out of your stomach. Hee.

4.3.2K1 - 10.46

Political/Social rant warning...
Cool Stuff warning...
Long Post warning...

San Diego bans use of the word Minority in all city government use. Gee, there's a thought! If we get rid of the word, by definition the problem vanishes! And here's the reaction:

"To have that term really made me feel inferior," said Robert Ito, who identified himself as a fourth-generation Japanese-American.
Awww. Poor baby. Because there's not a lot of Japanese-Americans in CA, it hurts you and makes you feel "inferior". If you're going to allow yourself to have that attitude, then it MAKES you inferior. You know, Bobby boy, you COULD follow in the footsteps of other Americans of Asian Descent and make some serious contributions to your city & state. At least, when you're not too busy feeling sorry for yourself and trying to drag down standards so you can feel better. THIS pisses me off in no small way - what ever happened to the confident, decisive guy from your parents/grandparents generation who didn't let little shit like skin color or eye shape stop them? A lot of those Issei and Nisei parents of his were the ones that helped turn CA into a bread basket. And yes, during WWII we took it away from them. Guess what? They started all over again and built themselves a second successful lifestyle! When you have such a strong family structure and bonds like a lot of the Asian cultures have, then there's a drive there to better yourself for your family. There's self-respect. There's honor of the true sort. And I look at other groups, with their destroyed families, dumbass dads, and other problems, and I wonder - did we really gain so much when we had our bra-burning "social revolution" out of a system that actually worked PRETTY DAMN WELL?

Listen to the wind blow on Mars! Well, not till after 2007. But remember, you heard it here first!

Gee, The ChiComms finally got around to letting us talk to our people there. And the Chinese have apparently boarded the aircraft and took stuff off of it, no clue what it was. Well, if they want that so bad, I guess they don't need all the other things we give them. Oh, they also want us to go away and don't fly anywhere near them again. My ass. Shame they couldn't wipe the plane with a Tomahawk just after landing... And let's not forget the two U.S. citizens over there being held on spy charges.

Remember when I said that Putin wanted to take back over the old state run industries, like the media? Well, they did it. First one state-run company buys up as much stock in the free media as it can, then the government steps in and impounds near 20% of the other stock - so guess what? That state run group suddenly claims it has more than half of all shares. (convienient) So they fire a bunch of directors and appoint all govt. flunkies to run the Russian "Free" Media. Wonder when they're going to resurrect Joe.

And now, The Register:

WOOHOO!! Dirt-cheap 40" flatscreen TVs from Philips! Ahhhh, I LOOOOVE technology.
Chi? < ^_^ >
heh heh...

Oh yay. China news again - they have been studying US computer defenses in case of true full-on cyberwar, and now they want us to give them all kinds of virus code. To test their antivirus software. RIIIIIIGHT. And it's already happening...

Tantalized by the glittering promise of 1.2 billion (largely penniless) consumers, Network Associates, Symantec and Trend Micro have graciously complied, offering up approximately 300 virus samples to curry favor enough to sell their products in the PRC.
I wonder if that's legal...and here's more.
It's long been known that China is developing a cyber-warfare capability, since it lacks the technological sophistication, manufacturing capacity and raw capital required to compete head-to-head with military juggernauts like the USA, EU, and, until recent years, Russia.

Beijing clearly sees information warfare as an inexpensive battlefield equalizer. But according to the Journal report, only the most common malicious programs in circulation -- all of which are easily detected -- have been surrendered....

Nevertheless it's beyond question that the Chinese authorities intend to secure for themselves the capability of launching devastating cyber attacks. With that in mind, we might make sense of this trend if we consider that they might wish to see a broad sample of detectable viruses in hopes of modifying them to evade detection without diluting their effectiveness.

Sound familiar? A very good article, do read.

And now...

The Larch.

Microsoft, we love you. Never change, and share the guns and drugs, willya?

A new reader! enasni the literate cricket. < ^_^ > The legend grows!

Dora, put up the new look!

Sakura-san, try the original MS Gundam series - it's a 3-movie set availible in the US. Once you're done with that, go watch Gundam 0080: War In The Pocket and cry your brains out. "Don't cry, Al, soon there'll be a bigger and better war! And we'll get more stuff next time!" And then follow up with 08th MS Team and Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory if you can find it. The first 3 all happen during the same year in the series, 0083 is nearly 4 years later, so save it for last.

Speaking of which, they're showing not just the original MS Gundam, but Cartoon Network is also bringing 08th MS Team! YES!

Katherine, that song cracks me up every time I hear it. No, I haven't heard that Foo Fighters attempt...I want a copy! And, just to get twisted, I change my vote from Jet to Ein. XD

Carolyn has a good idea. If you don't put the gift thing back up, we won't talk to you, Gillian...

Firefly, the keyboard damage pattern says Sprite or Mountain Dew. Coke would have a lot more duplicate letters, DP would have eliminated all your vowels. And Root Beer would have eaten through the computer like acid blood from an Alien.

4.3.2K1 - 1.34

*sweep sweep* late cleanup.

I wish this had a rolling delay archive like blogger. I wonder if I could make blogger point here...?

P.S. posted some stuff late "last night", so go to the Reloads just in case you missed it.
